Assessment

How is the First Aid at Work (FAW) Course Assessed?

The First Aid at Work qualification is assessed through two key components:

  1. Practical Assessment: This is an ongoing evaluation conducted throughout the course, where learners must demonstrate their practical first aid skills.
  2. Centre-Marked Multiple-Choice Theory Assessment: Learners must successfully complete a 30-question multiple-choice theory paper in 45 minutes. To pass, a minimum score of 70% (21 out of 30 questions correct) is required. If learners do not meet this threshold, additional oral questioning may be used to assess their understanding.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the First Aid at Work course, participants will receive a Highfield Award in First Aid at Work at SCQF Level 6, a nationally recognized qualification. This comprehensive course meets the requirements specified by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, providing you with the essential skills and knowledge to handle emergency situations in the workplace.

Your qualification remains valid for a period of 3 years. To maintain your skills and confidence, we recommend retaking the course before the expiry date. Additionally, refreshing your knowledge annually through short refresher courses or online modules is highly encouraged. This ensures you’re always prepared to act effectively in an emergency.
